The Illegal Images Workbook: Understanding and Changing Harmful Online Sexual Behavior offers professionals a structured, strengths-based tool for working with adults who have engaged in viewing or possessing child sexual abuse media (CSAM). Developed by Dr. David Delmonico and Elizabeth Griffin, the workbook supports a therapeutic process built around six interconnected areas of growth—emotion management, intimacy skills, deviant sexuality, out-of-control sexual behavior, technology use, and victim awareness.

Grounded in the Risk-Need-Responsivity (RNR) framework and the Good Lives Model (GLM), principles, the workbook operationalizes these frameworks into accessible, experiential exercises that facilitate client accountability, motivation for change, and empathy for victims.

This four-hour workshop introduces professionals to the workbook’s treatment applications. Participants examine practical methods for incorporating workbook exercises into both clinical and probation environments, addressing barriers such as shame, minimization, and technology restrictions, and aligning workbook use with client-specific risk and responsivity factors.

Interactive Follow-Up Meeting

Attendees are invited to join an open discussion 15 minutes following the end of the training, where you can engage with fellow attendees by turning on your camera and microphone. This is an opportunity to share your experiences and contribute to a meaningful exchange of ideas. Time will be allocated to address questions or insights from the training. Please note that attendance is optional and will not affect your eligibility for a training certificate.

As a result of participating in this training, attendees will be better able to:

1) Describe the six treatment domains addressed in The Illegal Images Workbook and their relevance to CSAM-related behavior change.
2) Apply Risk-Need-Responsivity and Good Lives principles to the treatment of online sexual offense behavior.
3) Identify at least four common obstacles to change (e.g., shame, cognitive distortions, emotional avoidance, and digital disinhibition).
4) Demonstrate strategies for facilitating workbook exercises in both group and individual formats.
5) Integrate accountability, empathy, and technology-management skills into treatment goals to reduce dynamic risk.
