Online Training Description:
Up to 50 % of sex-trafficked youths are male, yet they often remain overlooked in human trafficking cases. This under-recognition leads to inadequate support and identification, resulting in many male survivors notreceiving the help they need. In this training, Nathan LaChine addresses this critical issue by focusing on what professionals need to know about working with males who have been trafficked in a key type of commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC): the child sexual abuse material (CSAM) industry, formerly known as child pornography.
This training draws from research and practice to provide insights into CSEC. It highlights the distinct obstacles male victims face, including:
- Increased stigma in the face of societal expectations and gender norms
- Reluctance to seek assistance
- Step inside the lived experiences of the forgotten victims themselves
- Difficulty in disclosing trauma due to cultural norms and expectations
The training offers a unique perspective on the commercialized aspects of the Child Abuse Material Industry by amplifying the stories and voices of male survivors. It is an opportunity to:
- Deepen your understanding of trafficking dynamics and patterns
- Challenge common misconceptions through evidence-based discussions
- Keep up to date with current trends in CSEC
By participating in this training, professionals gain crucial knowledge and skills to better identify, support, and advocate for male survivors of commercial sexual exploitation, ultimately working towards a more inclusive and effective approach to addressing child trafficking.
