The Illegal Images Workbook was created to address the challenges faced by individuals struggling with child sexual abuse media, offering a structured resource to support behavioral change. This workbook is intended for those who may already be involved in the legal system due to their use of child sexual abuse media, as well as those seeking to change their behavior before it leads to legal consequences.
The authors’ inspiration for writing the Illegal Images Workbook comes from their experience working with individuals who often feel deep shame, fear, and distress about their use of child sexual abuse medial but do not know where to turn for help. This workbook is designed to guide them toward Awareness, Health, Freedom, and Hope, as represented by the signpost on the workbook’s cover. It aims to help individuals break free from harmful patterns and move toward a healthier, more fulfilling life.
The workbook provides essential information, exercises, and resources to help individuals navigate a new path—one that leads away from sexually harmful behavior. It is organized around six core areas:
- Emotion Management
- Intimacy Skills
- Deviant Sexuality
- Out-of-Control Sexual Behavior
- Technology Use
- Victim Awareness
While these are not the only challenges individuals may face, they are among the most common and critical to address.
The Illegal Images Workbook balances increasing awareness with practical exercises designed to develop new skills and promote lasting change. It contains over 50 interactive exercises specifically created for individuals struggling with child sexual abuse media. Each exercise encourages readers to Reflect & Respond and React to the concepts presented, fostering deeper understanding and personal growth.
Ultimately, the goal of the Illegal Images Workbook is to help individuals:
- Effectively manage their emotions
- Build healthy and meaningful relationships
- Engage in appropriate and fulfilling sexual behaviors
- Use technology responsibly
- Fully understand the impact of CSAM on victims and society
While these goals may seem ambitious, we firmly believe that change is possible. With commitment and the right support, individuals can break free from harmful behaviors and create a healthier future.
