CALM Conversations to Prevent Suicide: Counseling on Access to Lethal Means
Talking about access to firearms, medications, and other lethal means is a crucial part of preventing suicide. Most suicidal crises are short-lived, and timely intervention can save lives. This CALM training helps participants recognize suicide risk, approach difficult conversations with care and confidence, and take simple, effective steps to reduce access to lethal means. Attendees will learn how to recognize warning signs, ask about suicidal thoughts in a supportive way, connect individuals to help, and create safer environments during times of crisis. Open to all community members—no prior experience in mental health or suicide prevention required.
