Safer Society Collaborator Apryl Alexander Receives Prestigious Award for Social Justice

We at Safer Society were thrilled to learn that Dr. Apryl Alexander has received the American Psychological Association’s (APA) Lorraine Williams Greene Award for Social Justice. The award is given in honor of an active member of the APA who devoted her career to working with police and public safety personnel and their families.

Dr. Alexander has made significant contributions of her own. Her 2018 TED Talk titled Sexual Violence is Preventable – Here’s How is a must see for professionals in abuse prevention. We also recommend her webinar, Ending Racialized Violence, which is free to watch here. Dr. Alexander will also be providing an online training for Safer Society in September. Please see below for more details.

Dr. Apryl Alexander is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Graduate School of Professional Psychology at the University of Denver. She is the Director of the Forensic Institute of Research, Service, and Training (Denver FIRST) Outpatient Competency Restoration Program. She received the 2017 American Psychological Association’s Early Career Achievement Award.
