As our profession adapts to new challenges, cultural competence must include an understanding of each individual’s sexuality, especially when working with individuals who have engaged in or experienced nonconsensual sexual behaviors. Yet, many professionals find themselves navigating these complex topics without adequate support or opportunities for open dialogue.

In this Our Safe Haven, we invite you to join Robin Cooper and David Prescott to explore how personal and professional beliefs about sexuality influence our work, client relationships, and the broader field. Each session begins with a focused review of how sexuality beliefs influence professional practice, evolving naturally into an engaging, attendee-driven conversation shaped by shared experiences and professional insights:
Session 01: Let’s Talk Shame Around Sexuality and Sex
October 8, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm ET

- Session 02: Let’s Talk Gender Dynamics in Clinical Settings
January 7, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm ET
Explore the intersections of gender roles, expectations, and power dynamics in therapeutic work. Share strategies to build greater awareness and equity in clinical relationships.
- Session 03: Let’s Talk Managing Transference and Boundaries
January 30, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm ET
Discuss how clients may unconsciously project feelings from past relationships onto professionals and explore strategies for recognizing these patterns, maintaining healthy boundaries, and supporting effective treatment.
These sessions are more than a discussion—they are opportunities to network, build skills, exchange ideas, and contribute to shaping best practices in this field. Join us to connect with like-minded professionals, gain actionable insights, and make a meaningful impact in addressing the challenges posed by sexual beliefs in treatment.
To ensure that each session is workable, we will limit the number of attendees. Registration for each session will, therefore, be on a first-come-first-served basis. We are charging a non-refundable fee of $8.00 to reserve your spot.
