About

Dan Knoepfler is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified Sex Offender Treatment Provider in Washington State. He has worked with children with sexual behavior problems for 40 years. He has worked with adults with sexual behavior problems for 25. As Washington State increases its focus on the unique issues relating to emerging adults, he has been involved in working with this population as well.

Dan was the president of the Washington State Chapter of ATSA in 2008. He has been on the program committee since then. He was also part of the inaugural class of ATSA Fellows, while a member of ATSA. He has been on the advisory committee for the SOTP credential in the State of Washington. His appointment by the governor ended in 2024.

Dan was involved in public policy in Washington State testifying in front of legislative committees as well as making appearances on the local news about issues relating to people convicted of sexual offenses.

One of the most important aspects of his career has been to assist in maintaining a strong connection between people treating those who have offended and treatment providers for those who have been harmed. Washington- ATSA and local sexual assault programs just had their 10th annual joint meeting in September. These meetings were started by Dan and the clinical director of one of the programs.
