With mixed feelings of happiness for him and sadness for us, we are announcing that Stephen (Steve) Zeoli will be retiring from Safer Society Foundation effective July 10, 2026.
During his 22 years with the Foundation, Steve has been an invaluable part of our success. Most of his work consisted of managing the marketing and advertising of Safer Society Press books, handling customer service, and overseeing the production, printing, and warehousing of the books. In January of 2022 he was promoted to the position of Director of Safer Society Press and graciously added new book acquisitions and editorial management to his long list of responsibilities.
Throughout his tenure Steve has consistently gone above and beyond, providing excellent service to our customers, collaborating with our authors, and advising and supporting our other staff members. His expertise and gentle wit will be sorely missed.
I’m grateful to have been the primary beneficiary of Steve’s professionalism and wisdom since I joined Safer Society 15 years ago. Of all the folks associated with Safer, I think I will miss him the most. — Mary Falcon
Everyone already knows about Steve’s unending calm, kindness, and knowledge about publishing. What I will never forget was the time a stressed-out neighbor had a meltdown right outside our door. Steve went out and talked this young man down, simply by listening and staying present. It was testimony to Steve’s character. I’ve known lots of professionals who couldn’t accomplish what Steve did that day. — David Prescott
Steve has a way of bringing a sense of calm to Safer Society. He brings a steady, thoughtful presence and naturally puts people at ease through his guidance and everyday kindness. We’ll definitely miss hearing about his trips to National Parks and the random bits of entertainment trivia he somehow always has ready. He’s made a meaningful impact on our team, and it’s hard to imagine Safer Society without him. Wishing him all the best in retirement and many more great adventures ahead. — Michelle Shubert
Working with Steve over the past 11 years has been nothing short of wonderful. We could always count on him to help us see every side of a project or problem, bringing thoughtfulness and clarity when it mattered most. Steve embodies the spirit of nonprofit work more than anyone on our team, always showing such generosity and care for others. I’ll truly miss our morning chats over a cup of his delicious coffee. Thank you, Steve, for everything. — Sarah Snow Haskell
We are incredibly grateful for everything Steve has done for Safer Society and wish him the absolute best as he embarks on this exciting new chapter of his life.
