Rene McCreary, Ed.S., LPC

About

Rene McCreary has been working for over three decades with families and individuals who have been impacted by sexual abuse. She has worked as a therapist in both inpatient and outpatient settings, has been a trainer and consultant for Practical Parenting Partnerships and a therapist with the National Center for Trauma Based Disorders.

Ms. McCreary spent a decade as the Director of Counseling at a rape crisis center where she worked with counselors, social workers, interns and fellows to provide care to individuals across the continuum of sexual abuse: children and adolescents who had experienced sexual abuse; children with problematic sexual behaviors and adolescents with illegal sexual behaviors; adults who had experienced sexual abuse and assault; and adults who had been charged with sex crimes. During this time, Rene’s work with a multidisciplinary team in the K.C. Metro area helped develop a regional program for youth with problematic sexual behaviors and their families. She has conducted scholarly research on both the impact of being used in the production of child pornography and the issue of problematic sexual behaviors in children.
