About
Stephan Jones, the son of Rev. Jim Jones, was not present in Jonestown, Guyana, during the tragic events of November 18, 1978, where over 900 people lost their lives due to his father’s actions with the Peoples Temple. Stephan, who was playing at a Temple-promoted basketball game at the time, tragically lost most of his family and community that night. Despite having no involvement in the events that unfolded, he was imprisoned until his return to the US. In the aftermath, Stephan and other survivors faced immense challenges. Despite enduring unimaginable circumstances, Stephan Jones managed to reconstruct his life. He has contributed through writing essays and occasional media appearances but has deliberately avoided seeking attention, choosing instead to support his fellow survivors, raise his three daughters, and follow his personal spiritual journey.
