We want to congratulate the folks at MASOC for the appointment of Meg Bossong as the agency’s first full-time executive director. Meg succeeds Joan Tabachnick, who will stay involved during the transition.
Founded by Steve Bengis in 1986, MASOC has provided education and training services to professionals; educated legislators on emerging issues; and coordinated efforts with the partners critical to this important work of preventing sexual harm by young people. The agency has changed over the years, as the shift from the meaning of its acronym indicates. MASOC is now the Massachusetts Society for a World Free of Sexual Harm by Youth, reflecting its updated mission.
Meg brings a host of experience to her new role, having worked with survivors, perpetrators, and communities affected by sexual violence. Meg has held various roles in prevention and community mobilization at the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center. She has also worked with young people as the Director of Intimate Violence Prevention & Response and Health Education at Williams College.
We are incredibly grateful for Joan Tabachnick’s valuable partnership and friendship, and her significant contributions to creating a safer world for children.
We wish Meg and the entire MASOC organization the best, and ask that Joan not be a stranger!
