Safer Society Foundation hosted the first Brandon Chamber of Commerce mixer of 2022 on June 1st.
The Foundation is celebrating its 40th year in 2022. The past 27 of those years, the nonprofit agency has been headquartered in Brandon, where they publish books aimed at stemming the harmful effects of sexual abuse and personal violence. During the pandemic, the agency has added online training programs through its Continuing Education Center for social work, psychology, and counseling professionals.
The income earned through these endeavors not only funds that work, but also funds New Circle Mentoring, a program matching at-risk youths in central Vermont with adults in long-term mentor-mentee relationships.
“The mixer truly lived up to its name,” says Executive Director Mary Falcon. “We got to know a number of our Brandon neighbors and they got to learn more about Safer Society. We greatly appreciate the work of the Brandon Chamber of Commerce in organizing such a wonderful event.
Special thanks go to Mari Verduzco of La Catrina 802 for catering the event and providing the scrumptious food and refreshments.
